Amazon Is Now Lobbying Sellers to Avoid Ending Their Private-Label Brands

Congress has begun working on legislation to limit the monopolies of big tech companies, including Amazon. As a result, Amazon has started lobbying sellers to help fight the proposed laws.

If the legislation is passed, it could have serious ramifications, with Amazon potentially being required to spin off its private-label brands into their own entity, separate from the company. This would mean this new private label Entity would need to compete against third-party sellers on a more level playing field.

This could be good or bad for third-party sellers. It could knock out some of the competition of Amazon's private-label brands that undoubtedly have an unfair advantage. Yet it could also result in fewer customers shopping on Amazon and less potential traffic for individual sellers.

Some suggest Amazon could fire all of us...the third-party sellers...and just do their own thing. I think that is highly unlikely. Read more from the folks at ecomcrew.com.

Shenzhen is paying online businesses to sell somewhere besides Amazon

Shenzhen, known as China’s Silicon Valley, is offering Chinese e-commerce merchants a subsidy of 2 million yuan (US$308,000) as the “made in China, sold on Amazon” community continues to suffer from Amazon's crackdown on review fraud.

Sidenote:
The link below goes to an excellent article from the South China Morning Post. I say good riddance to most of the Chinese sellers. They didn't play fair and brought down the profits and prices of so many items to the point where US sellers just couldn't sell them anymore.

Amazon opens new air hub in Cincinnati

Last week, Amazon opened the doors on its first air hub facility at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport that will house up to 100 Amazon Air cargo planes. The price tag? 1.5 billion dollars.

It’s another sign of Amazon’s race to become like FedEx and UPS. Both companies have their own air hubs nearby -- FedEx in Memphis, UPS in Louisville.

Sidenote:
I feel sorry for those who live nearby. I live in Memphis and when it is windy or rainy I get about 90 FedEx jets landing over my house starting at 11 pm until 2 am.
They are spaced two minutes apart...it is just brutal.

Make 2-day delivery a competitive advantage everywhere you sell

Were you negatively affected by recent FBA storage decreases and can't keep enough stock at Amazon?

Or perhaps you are an FBM Prime seller who isn't jazzed about having to ship on Saturdays to provide 2-day delivery.

Deliverr is an FBA alternative that has no storage restrictions and is trusted by thousands of sellers across Amazon, Walmart, Shopify, and other sales channels. It takes 2 minutes to sign up, and you can start fulfilling your orders in as little as 10 days. Their pricing is fully transparent (check out their cost-calculator tool), and they have no contracts, minimums, or hidden fees.

Check them out>

Tidbits:

  • Starting October 1, 2021, FBA sellers will be required to enter the carrier name and tracking information, where available, during shipment creation so that tracking information is provided before your shipment arrives at the fulfillment center. This change is not applicable for sellers who use the Amazon Partnered Carrier program or Amazon Global Logistics since Amazon will generate tracking information for you. For faster receive times, ensure that the tracking IDs for parcel shipments are mapped to the correct FBA box ID label on each box.
  • Customers spent more money at Amazon in the past 12 months than they did at Walmart, making it the world’s largest retailer outside of China.
According to the estimates, Amazon customers spent over $610 billion in the past year, compared to $566 billion for Walmart.
