Prime Day 2021 - June 21 and 22

Make sure you're ready for this year's Prime Day event because it's just around the corner.

Prime Day 2021 will take place on the 21st and 22nd of June. Amazon has just made it official by confirming the rumors.

Expect a big spike in traffic on Amazon over these two days. You don't have much time to prepare, so if you don't have a plan for Prime Day, get to work now.

85 New Countries Approved for Selling on Amazon

Amazon just opened the door for a lot more people to become Amazon sellers. 85 new countries were added to the approved list of countries for seller registration, including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and Venezuela. This brings the total number of countries open to Amazon sellers to 188.

Sidenote: I seriously did not know there are that many countries, did you? I mean what is left? The few missing are heavily sanctioned nations like Cuba, Iran, and North Korea. Fun fact: There are 195 countries.

This might not mean much if you're already selling on Amazon - but it's just another sign of how Amazon is growing, and investing in becoming a bigger worldwide platform.

There's still a lot of growth potential in the Amazon third-party marketplace, which is really exciting to think about.

Restricted Amazon Keywords (Search Terms)

I came across a Google Sheet this week with a list of words you should never use in your Amazon listings. You should click over and see the list yourself. There are words there that we all use. I don't even know who created the list to give them credit, but it is an amazing list.

So I researched a bit further and found Amazon's guidelines. They didn't have that list but they did add a few more that weren't on it such as:

available now, brand new, current, discounted, just launched, last chance, last minute, latest, limited time, new, on sale, this week (month, year etc.), today, etc.
amazing, best, cheap, cheapest, effective, fastest, good deal, least, most, popular, trending, etc.

Amazon Attribution: A new analytics tool for Amazon sellers

Amazon Attribution is a powerful new tool for Amazon sellers wanting to track and optimize performance for off-Amazon traffic. Getting accurate data has long been a pain point for brands driving traffic from outside Amazon.

Since you have no access to the code on your Amazon product page, and you can’t install Google Analytics or the Facebook pixel, you can’t track customers through your funnel from start to finish. Thus, optimizing your external marketing campaigns is difficult.

Now, for brand registered sellers and Vendors, the Amazon Attribution feature is being rolled out, which will finally allow sellers to correctly measure the impact of media channels outside Amazon.

Amazon is trying to cash in on viral TikToks

Amazon is leaning into TikTok virality.

Last month, the company published a new product collection called “Internet Famous: The Latest To Go Viral.” It features a mix of portable carpet cleaners, foot peel masks, and dozens of other products that have recently garnered millions of views across TikTok. While Amazon doesn’t specifically use the word TikTok on its site, the collection pulls from the app — both aesthetically and in its list of products — in all but name.
