Amazon unveils Aplenty, its newest private label food brand
- Amazon has unveiled Aplenty, a new private label food brand set to eventually include hundreds of products across a variety of center store categories, the retailer said in an email Monday morning.
- The brand, which is available online and at Amazon's Fresh grocery stores, launched with items including twice-baked parmesan, garlic and herbs pita chips; slow-baked cornbread crackers; and salted caramel chip mini cookies.
Aplenty is a good name for Amazon, don't you think? Very clever, as usual.

How To Deal With Hijacked Listings (Amazon Keyword Sabotage)
There is a dark side to selling on Amazon, where Seller Support is usually useless to help, or perhaps they just don't care. There’s a new blackhat tactic spreading like wildfire: Amazon keyword sabotage. And just because you haven’t had any hijacked listings doesn’t mean you won’t. Here’s how this hostile Amazon SEO strategy can affect you, and how you can protect your account from dishonest competitors.

For most product categories, you are required to provide a unique product identifier, known as a GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) such as a UPC and EAN, to create new listings. GTINs are considered invalid if they are not GS1 vended or not recognized by the brand owner. To check for products with invalid GTINs, you need to visit Fix Your Product in Seller Central and provide the requested information immediately or your listings will be removed.
|
To fix the ASINs, use Contact us to submit a letter of authorization or a licensing agreement that meets the following criteria:
|
- Includes the name and address of the brand's rights owner
- Legible: it is not too blurry and not too light or dark
- Includes the manufacturer name and contact information
- Includes the seller’s legal business name or the seller name that corresponds to your account information page in Seller Central
- Includes the seller’s physical address
- Must be in English
- Includes a GS1 certificate note: We recommend that you obtain your GTINs directly from GS1 (and not from other third parties selling GTIN licenses) to ensure that the appropriate information is reflected in the GS1 database. For more information on licensing EANs or UPCs from GS1, refer to the GS1 website.
Products that are listed in the At-risk listings section in the Fix your product page will be removed if the requested information is not provided by the due date. Products that are listed in the Inactive listings section will remain inactive unless the requested information is provided.
|
A few years ago when I had several products that needed barcodes, I had to pay $800 per year for them from GS1, and what a hassle it was. Lately, when I needed barcodes, I just bought some off of eBay, which wasn't the greatest idea.
|
But now you can buy just one GTIN number for a new product for $30 from the real deal...https://www.gs1us.org/. This is a recent development just announced in November 2020. So now you can have your own authentic GTIN number without having to lay out hundreds of dollars.

New size attributes required for apparel products listings
From April 26, 2021, you must provide standardized apparel size attributes when you create new listings, and update existing listings, for the product types PANTS, SHORTS, OVERALLS, SWIMWEAR, BRA, CORSET, UNDERGARMENT_SLIP, SHIRT, SKIRT, and HAT.
|
The use of standardized apparel sizes will improve the customer shopping experience by providing consistent size values for apparel products across the store. Instead of using free-form text for apparel sizing information, you must select values from a standardized list for size attributes such as bottoms_size (PANTS, SHORTS, OVERALLS), shapewear_size (SWIMWEAR, BRA, CORSET, UNDERGARMENT_SLIP), shirt_size (SHIRT), skirt_size (SKIRT) and headwear_size (HAT) products.
